Green Initiatives
Zip Signs is committed to operate in an environmentally responsible manner, in compliance with relevant environmental legislation and regulations. Our commitment is reflected in our day-to-day operations to minimize the impacts on the natural environment and local community. We also work with our customers to help them do the same.
- All acrylic, aluminum, steel and cardboard are properly recycled or re-used through third party recycling programs.
- A comprehensive recycling program throughout the offices and manufacturing areas that include paper, bottles, cans, and recyclable materials.
- Old signs are brought back to our plant to be disposed of properly.
- All packaging/shipping materials are returned to our shop after installation for recycling.
LEED®
Are you looking to achieve a LEED® certification for your project? Ask one of our LEED Green Associates how your commercial signage can be designed to help reach this goal.
We are constantly evaluating the materials used to maximize our ability to contribute to either LEED® certification points, or to greener solutions for our clients’ signage needs. In doing so, we are always experimenting with different kinds of lighting, sustainable materials, products with low VOCs, and materials with higher pre or post-consumer recyclable content. With the implementation of a “Green” team, Zip Signs is an industry leader, providing cost effective, energy efficient signage to its clients.
LED Retro-Fit
What’s greener than a new, energy-efficient LED sign? Retro-fitting an existing sign with LEDs! Find out more.
Canadian Industrial Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC)
In an effort to reduce energy consumption, Zip Signs has joined CIPEC. With their help, we replaced the overhead lighting in our shop with energy-efficient induction lighting. This energy savings reduces CO2 emissions which is the equivalent to taking 19 cars off the road every year!
